Clear promise
The translator is for understanding and producing in another language (colleague, customer, attachment, subtitles) while keeping processing inside the CryptPeer execution boundary you operate. It targets multilingual “document / conversation / file” work, not certified legal review or sworn interpretation.
Technical modes: translation inside encrypted chat; dedicated tool (type, paste, speech recognition to fill the source field when the device exposes it, source-language detection when relevant, then translate into the target chosen from about 50 languages); files in the formats listed below.
Indicative supported formats
.txt, .odt, .odp, .docx, .pptx, .epub, .html, .srt, .pdf
Use cases
- Support or customer relations: read a request in the contact’s language and answer in already encrypted chat without an external online translator.
- Office documents: obtain a translated working copy of a .docx, .odt, or .pdf on a segmented network.
- Voice into the field, then “Translate”: in the translation tool, use the device dictation engine to populate the source text, pick the target language from about 50 languages, and run translation in one click — the whole flow stays inside CryptPeer: the same sovereign translator on any compatible endpoint where the app runs and the OS provides speech recognition, without a consumer cloud translation service.
- Filtered or isolated sites: keep multilingual workflows when public translation SaaS is blocked.
Security reading
- Confidentiality: no routine shipping of text to a public translation service; content is handled by the local engine within CryptPeer.
- Control: same pattern as other “local-first” features — you own deployment, updates, and hardware trade-offs; quality also depends on model and resources.
- Continuity: usable in constrained or cloud-disconnected environments, alongside Local AI (LLME) for generic writing help (different role: drafting / rephrase, not dedicated translation).
